Why The Vault?
The Vault is a project by With/out Pretend, an independent literary press founded in 2015 with the mission to produce, promote and distribute work by emerging writers and visual artists.
Publishing printed matter can be very expensive, especially when you want to maintain suppliers who are local and values-aligned. We wanted to make more work, more often, and continue to collaborate with a community of fresh, unique voices. Over the past two years we’ve published stories by more than 60 women-identifying writers and featured art from 24 illustrators from around the world.
Being a member of The Vault means you’re championing the kind of art you want to see in the world — stories that are honest, relatable, and fiercely uncensored.
